Scotland’s Funkiest Wee Drum Shop

Scotland’s Funkiest Wee Drum Shop

dD Drums = Drums + Percussion + Teaching

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to this monster effort of ours.
As you possibly may know, we’re always up to something here at dD Drums and the last year has been mental!

Regardless of whether it was bouncing over to Meinl for new cymbals, visiting the UK’s biggest drum shows, hosting our own Scottish Drum Fest, liaising with our suppliers and growing list of custom drum builders or simply hanging in the shop looking after our loyal customer base –  we were also always working on this project!

Our previous web presence was described as ‘blinking in the dark’, as regardless of the effort and cool we had going on at dD Drums, we had real difficulty representing this online. However, with a cracking team around us – and a ‘pregnancy’ length of development – we’re now ready to switch the lights on!

We met with John Taylor of JT Projects who came highly recommended as the guy who could make our web requirements real. Over a few months he ‘extracted’ from us all the info he needed to compose the brief for the site.
After a few meetings with interested designers, we had a one-horse-race decision to make in favour of Ross Steedman and Jason Murray, collectively known as Design 33. These guys’ appetite for the job in hand was exactly what we needed, and it was incredibly cool to find guys in the IT/web world that totally got on board with the vibe we were trying to achieve here. Massive thanks guys!

So much of the content on this site was generated by two incredibly talented people that have become part of the extended dD family. Wayne Blanchard is one the one the drum world’s greatest wordsmiths, and he brought his huge amount of marketing experience to bear, helping us find the words to say what we wanted to say.
Sonja Blietschau of RebelPhotoArt captured so many of the amazing photos you see dotted throughout this site. Again, having someone with Sonja’s talent that totally understood the vibe we were trying to capture was essential to bringing our shop online.

So what you can you expect to see on this site?
Hopefully we are representative of a shop that has grown from a pub trophy cabinet in our first teaching room through to the physical shop we have which is from today now further represented by this latest web addition. We’re a shop that pays attention to the needs of the developing drummer as much as the working professionals.
We’re not interested in being a faceless online presence with a huge web-shop. We want to bring the vibe and passion we have in our funky wee shop to the online world!

You’ll find info on a teaching practice that has evolved from a 1 bedroom operation into Central Scotland’s drum education hub with 4 excellently equipped studios. This helps us welcome some of the best players from around to our humble home to share with us their knowledge and experiences.

You will also be able to find the latest news on our upcoming events, be it in-store workshops, guest teaching sessions or this year’s Scottish Drum Fest – there’s always something on at dD Drums.

So whether you’re looking for the bigger names such as Ludwig or Roland; bespoke drum builders such as Highwood, Forecast and Murray; our special stock of Meinl Cymbals handpicked by us in Germany; info on the coolest drumming events in Scotland; or drum lessons from guys that are passionate about education…

You’re in the right place!

Thanks for reading David and Stuart.
